Will gmail remain free always?

Only if competition exists within the Internet based free email arena. A few years back, Microsoft tried to switch to a fee based email with their hotmail system. To many people left for yahoo and other companies that they had to drop the fee schedule and offer hotmail for free again.
Will gmail remain free always?
Hopefully a 'yes'
Reply:i think google hav more than enough money to keep it free....they had enough money to buy youtube ($1.6b) and they must be makin a lot from dat ^_^
Reply:According to Google (the owners of Gmail) the answer is yes.

Also based on the fact that AOL is now also offering free e-mail addresses, you can probably safely assume Google will keep their gmail e-mail addresses free.

However, remember: Yahoo has allowed people to have free e-mail addresses for years and have probably profected the "Free E-mail" setup.
Reply:Gmail will always be free, but it will permanently remain as "invite Only" or you can get an account by sending yourself a text message. it will stay that way forever.

and if anyone needs an invite, email me. i get 99 per month and i never use them.
